I am so excited that we can start the project we prepared it more than two years. The fund is shortfall but I can start it . Last night,I came back to my home in Suzhou from Shanghai with a tired body.My wife Fang looked at me seriously and asked : Mu,did you had thought about a question,what is your purpose as an artist? I kept a silence long time and nothing to answer. This is a so simple and easy question,but it became so complex for a full time artist like me,because I want too much------I want to create more great art works,I want to become a great artist,I want to change the world,I want more great in my life...... But,I seldom asked myself what is my radical purpose in my work.If they are so important to me? I was nothing when I born;I will nothing when I leave the world. So,if these great things still important to me? Come back to this project,I think I should return to my original intention.I was born in the village,I was grown and leaved for city in the village,my relations lived in the village.I come back to the village with my art,knowledge and experience today and I want make a new relationship with the village to research the possibility in get along with it.Or I can find myself and understand my purpose and direction from this project. I think this project is about a person,it’s shouldn’t lost the temperature from a person in spite of how is the project huge and complex. I had visited Cai Guoqiang’s studio in New York this summer and talked about this project.He said：a person will never far away from the place he born in spirit in spite of how far he walked.It’s a start place,a source in all his life.
This project will happen from this winter to next year’s spring.It’s finish time should in May of 2013,it’s warmly and full of flowers,I hope you and Davide come to my village. I hope you and Davide as the project’s curator,it means we will keep a communication for it and finish it together.I know you are very busy,so I think I need someone in Vanabbe Museum in charge of this project for I can touch and provide me the information and files about the project. The project’s record is very important and I will find an assistant help me for video and photography. About the media and press,I think I need some cooperate with some art media and make some talking and lecture for the project. We will have a lecture in Minsheng Museum in Davide’s plan next year.
